On July 1, the scrolls, after sensitive negotiations as well as
followed by three individuals including the Metropolitan, arrived
at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in New York. They had been purchased
by Prof. Mazar and the son of Prof. Sukenik, Yigael Yadin, for
US$250,000 and delivered to Jerusalem, where they were on exhibit
at the Rockefeller Museum.
After the Six-Day War, the scrolls were moved to the Shrine of the
Book. The Shrine of the Book, a wing of the Israel Museum close to
Givat Ram in Jerusalem, houses the Dead Sea Scrolls.
